I watched that press corps dinner because I really like what Colbert does. I thought it was far from his best work. I chalked it up to that unusual venue. Lots of funny people have done just so-so.
But to read the reports he made some conservative people fume and some liberal people double over laughing. Well it has to be people who have never seen his show. He did to Bush a very mild form of what he does on his show. Conservatives have nothing to complain about and liberals better watch out.
Colbert is just as devastating to lefties, maybe even more so because they aren't used to being made the butt of jokes on Comedy Central. They usually just sit on his set just stupified.
