Oh Gee, I better not talk like that online.
Yesterday the Info-Czar opened his blog to tod (that's how he signs his name). tod works for Microsoft. He's a manager.
And he wouldn't hire Tom Paine because Tom criticized religion in public. And he won't hire you if he finds you've done the same online. That's freedom for you.
As Lenny Bruce said, you can criticize the Tiki god because he's not under anyone's protection. But if you say something that everyone understands, you're out on the street. Or, maybe at Google.
But, I'm going to surprise you. The Canadian Headhunter wants you to listen to tod. Why? Because tod is The Man. tod's doing the hiring. So, kids, if you're going to rant on the internet, for God's sake, use an alias!
(Hey, tod, I was only joking. You know the internet. You've got to be cheeky. Please, don't throw away my resume).
PS: Was tod the guy who got rid of Scoble?
PPS: tod says I done 'im wrong. See the comments.
Reference: Tom Paine See also: RED CHANNELS.

Cheeky, eh? Well then here we go... :)
First off, let's get the record straight: I'm not a manager although I do participate in the interview process.
Secondly, I want people to express their opinions and be themselves online [and everywhere]. My primary purpose with the post was to get people to think first about how things online can be interpreted. I think you can criticize religion [or any other subject] in an intellectual and respectful manner. In fact I respect someone who can do so.
Oh, and just to be perfectly clear I had nothing to do with Scoble leaving...never even knew the guy. I'll make sure your resume goes straight to the top though. ;-)

I guess this is indirectly related, but it can show sometimes how even if a person may be doing the right thing what they say or do can even blacklist them from an industry http://www.sptimes.com/2002/02/15/Columns/Top_10_reasons_why_wh.shtml
The reason I bring this up was due to a comment that was made.. reading a persons blog one may be able to see how they handle disputes.. Hmm.. here is my challenge with that- how can a diary of sorts, a personal diary can be a reflection of a persons business persona?
I remember the first time I saw the article I presented, I realized that sometimes doing the right thing can appear so Wrong at the time, especially at first glance.. without all the facts and data.. isn't it dangerous to make a personal judgement without knowing all the details? To understand why someone may have posted that particular comment on the blog..
Were they fed up, had they hit a wall? Had they gotten sick and tired of being sick and tired of something that they saw at work that could be a problem.. ??
Guess Now I have to worry about my thoughts being on the wide world net.. or do I? Hmm.. Guess it all comes down to that personal beliefs of the new private detectives who call themselves recruiters.. One man's treasure, another person's gold..
My thoughts..
