Papa John's Shocking Expose!
It's been a bad week for Dr John Sullivan. First, John Pomaville claimed that Sully had been taken in by Michael Lackaye. Now, Papa John Sumser derides him as one of the few diehards clinging to the notion that Employee Referral Programs work.
Has anyone else noticed that the only people left beating the employment referral drum are John Sullivan and Airs. Jobster abandoned the referral moniker within moments of entering the business last year.
Papa offers these figures from Weddle's as an accurate reflection of the number of jobs filled via employee referrals. 708 people were asked how they found their last job:
31.2% - Job board
10.6% - Sent their resume to the company
9.3% - Newspaper ad
8.5% - Tip from a friend
6.8% - Referred by an employee
6.6% - Recruited by a headhunter
5.1% - Ad on the company site
4.9% - Career fair
4.8% - Networking at a business event
2.7% - Called by a staffing firm
2.7% - Tip from a family member
(And, hey, I thought that Jobster was a networking-for-referral service. Aren't they doing that anymore?)
