Meet The Web 2.0 Personality.
The Attention Blog claims that "Out There People" have a drive to be great which leads them to put themselves on display in public places.
They see openess (self-display) as a means of getting the attention which will lead to fame.
As they experiment with openess, they come to see it as a supreme practical value and are willing to air even their dirty laundry in public.
And, so, ironically, the pursuit of fame makes them more humble, flexible, open-minded and creative than the average Joe. Since they don't feel obliged to hide their errors, they are able to change course when they make a mistake or when something better than what they are doing appears.
Of interest to recruiters is the fact that Out There People will trade pay for the opportunity to work in an organization that gives credit where due (inotherwords, to them).
Think about it - would you rather have an extra $20,000 in bonus money and have all of the credit for your work go to someone else, or would you rather have an extra $10,000 and be publicly recognized and praised by your organization for your work?
