Wear a name tag to break the ice.
After an event at college, Scott Ginsberg decided to keep his name tag on. He noticed that people found it much easier to approach him. So, since then, Scott has worn his name tag every day for the last six years.
The idea is that most people have trouble accosting strangers to introduce themselves -and the tag does it for them.
It's fair to say that anyone who wears a name tag is inviting others to address him by name. However, the novelty of the tag must be one of the reasons behind Scott's popularity.

I didn't think there was such a thing as networking for shy people. Now I've seen it all. Great post.
