Eyeliner on men is sexy beyond belief. But, it only works for some guys. If you are a redhead, a light blond or, if you are too Pale, it will not work for you.

Men Are Not As Blunt As Women

Do you ever read advice for women? Usually, the author is mad at men because they were raised right while their sisters were treated unfairly.

For instance, men were, allegedly, taught to be blunt, direct and outspoken whereas little girls were taught to fade into the woodwork.

Well, it never seemed that way to me. And now I see that the Brazen Careerist agrees. According to Penelope, men are not blunt, they are wily and full of guile.

Women assume you should ask for what you want... Women are typically more comfortable with conflict than men....

Men don’t generally ask for what they want....Men negotiate more than women because women are facing conflict head-on and men are not.

It’s much easier to approach someone you are not going to instigate conflict with. So negotiations work best when you don’t assume you need to ask for exactly what you want.

Whether we're blunt or indirect, it seems we're always the bad guys in the end.

Manners At Work

Director Henry Hathaway was doing a movie starring Robert Mitchum. First day of shooting he comes up to Mitchum and says, "Hi, Bob! I just wanted to give you a heads up: sometimes, when I'm doing a movie, I get frustrated and I'll cuss an actor out, call him names. I just want you to know that it happens sometimes, I don't want you to take it personally."

Mitchum replied, "Thanks for letting me know, Henry. I should give you a heads up that when someone cusses me out or calls me names, I like to punch that person in the nose. It happens sometimes, and I don't want you to take it personally."

What Is A Hiring Batting Average?

After six months on the job, new hires should be rated as being below, meeting or exceeding expectations.

Using this simple rating as a guide, the people who recommended the new hire should be given a hiring batting average.

An average of .800 means that 80% of the candidates recommended met or exceeded expectations.

You can also use this method to measure other factors like:
- the sources of the good and bad hires.
