Perhaps I'll open a can of worms - what in the world does the Princess mean when she says that women don't need a husband and kids to be fulfilled?! What an incomplete question they must have asked in the survey. While I totally agree that you can be happy and have a rich full life without a husband or child, everyone enters into critical, life changing relationships of one kind or another. God made us relational creatures. Getting lost in a career isn't living life as we are intended to do. There is supposed to be a balance. Why can't we have it all?

Susanna, if you read my actual post, you'll see that that is exactly what I am saying. Recruiting Animal has, in true form, cropped the post to maneuver the point ;)

I don't think I changed the meaning and I added the rest of the sentence after "cat" to make it obvious.

"Women don’t need men or children for fulfillment. They might get on okay with a cat or their career, or another woman." Inotherwords, a primary marital/partner relationship is optional.

But that isn't the point of the posting anyway. I wasn't claiming that The Gen Y Princess doesn't like men or doesn't want to get married. I just love her style.

I get a chuckle out of this one -
"Bored with motherhood and marriage, we savor the challenge of work."
-- The age range for Generation Y is between 7 and 30 and already they are bored wih marriage and parenthood?

In regards to the other points.. well, I guess they really don't need to depend on each other too much, or even on spousal support, and yep, afford to dress well.. on mommy and daddy for all this?

Mom and Dad afford to retire? Something yet to be seen

According to a BMO survey nearly a third are still living at home to save for a down-payment. But even in the 31 to 34 year group, a large number are still living with their parents.

Yet get this --The response was that they’d likely be purchasing a home in the next few years – yet they’d only been saving for a down-payment for an average of 1.6 years. And what are they saving? Less than 13% of their income – even though they’re still living at home!

And it isn't only happening here in the States ... http://www.newsweek.com/id/52229

I have 3 Generation Y kids.. and the Excuses are so Creative, that alone is worth the A for effort, but, after a while, the total we know so much and you really don't know anything mom and dad; and, Wow, you really don't get it don't you.. all this said with the hand out for more, more more.. it get's real old..

and Yeah, as a parent, I accept some responsibility for what I consider the really Unrealistic views of life.. but, sometime you gotta learn..

Finally the parents have gotta get a clue and finally say, don't come a knockin' till you have something to give back..

I disagree with this statement. I manager several Gen. Y females, I experience quite the opposite. I see no real goals (if they are set, they are never achieved), casually dressed, and a very low EQ. I am a male and do not take offense to the male vs. female comparison, just the perception of generation Y. Gen y does not believe in earning anything.

"Generation Y women are high-achievers, shrewd, well-dressed, and possess an emotional intelligence that far surpasses our male counterparts."
