Radio Show of the Year

& Best Guest - Ammys 2009

First, I want to salute all of lunchtime recruiting shows. There's my show, Bill Boorman, The Ex-Recruiter, TalkSourcing. To me, they're all pretty much the same show. Same topics, same callers.

But there's one radio show that is obviously far more successful than all of the others, including my own. When I first tuned in I couldn't believe it but it's true.

The content and the guests on HR Happy Hour are just as boring as on any other show but the crowd makes all the difference. It's like Beatlemania.

A half hour before it starts, people are getting restless to hear it. All over Twitter you see,

"HR Happy Hour is coming on. I can't wait"
"Me too. I'm getting antsy waiting for HR Happy Hour".

And, then, they bring on this guy, the @EWMonster, and he says:

Brothers and Sisters, a business has 3 parts.
On the top, there's the drivers. All they care about is getting the job done.

And, under them are the workers, the hewers of wood. We feel for them - because we love People!.

But, what's a head without a heart and arms without a soul? Nothing! And who's the heart and soul of a business? HR! HR! HR!

And, all of a sudden, the panties go flying. Zing, zing, zing! It's unbelievable. So, the best show of 2009 is... HR Happy Hour. Congratulations, Steve Boese and Mork.

And Guest of the Year, EWMonster. I'm not sure I get it but you can't say he isn't a star.
