Servant Leader Creative Recruiter
"There's a huge gap between the business results that average employees deliver and what stars deliver." says The Night Tripper. So you have to hire the best.
But the best aren't looking. They are happy where they are. So you have to find them and woo them.
When it comes to recruiting, however, most companies are mentally challenged. And The Tripper sneers at those who go to job fairs to get a stash of garbage resumes.
But then there's Mike Homunculus (aka Homula), the famous Servant Leader.
He is the director of talent acquisition at the Quicken Loans mortgage company. It has 3,400 employees and is growing fast. . He has to hire 200 mortgage bankers a month and he has a staff 34 people to help him.
How The Servant Leader Sources
The Servant Leader hires for passion not industry experience. Recently his team spent a day lurking in and around malls looking for clerks who appeared to be possible recruits.
But over half of his recruits are referrals from employees and a team of recruiters works full time coaxing people out of them.
They recently gave employees baseball cards featuring successful new recruits to help sell them on the value of referring to the referrals. Isn't that perfectly Homulicious?
