The button triggers a LinkedIn search for anyone at the hiring company who is in the person's network.
Now, the job-hunter has the opportunity to pester them.
SimplyHired also has a Research Salary Button that takes you to a PayScale.com salary survey for that type of job.

Just wait until candidates start to catch on that it is in their best interest to bypass applying through on-line postings at the corporate sites and job boards and instead working through the LinkedIn insider contacts so that those insiders will get employee referral bonuses.
