Source: What Great Recruiters Do
1. They find people with the right personality as well as the right skills.
2. They have a pipeline of qualified talent ready to be put into place as soon as a position becomes available.
3. They know the back-channel chit chat going on in their niche business sector.
4. They can tell a company when to hire or fire someone.
5. They provide candidates with career advice. That makes people want to stay in touch with the recruiter and do favours for him. This goodwill is what gives them the power to dominate their niche.
MY COMMENT:
Do recruiters really have a pipeline of people ready to put into play? No one ever tells me that on the Recruiting Animal Show.
Do recruiters tell a manager when to fire someone? No one ever told me that.
I'll have to start asking all of these questions because no one has ever told me that this is what they do.
